The Studio Classical Guitar Chair: February 2026 Limited Batch Pre-Order
The Studio Classical Guitar Chair is designed to support proper posture, reduce fatigue, and stay out of the way of the instrument and the player.
This chair was developed over the course of six months of design iteration in collaboration with renowned classical guitarist and educator Scott Kritzer, drawing directly from decades of performance and teaching experience. Every aspect of the chair—from seat height to leg clearance to lumbar support—was designed around the physical realities of classical playing.
A note from Scott Kritzer:
If you’ve played the guitar for any length of time you know the wear and tear that sitting with our instrument -even in the most efficient position- can create on your back and shoulders. Designed with a flexible height this chair can replace the need for a footstool. The seat is wide and comfortable. The shape of the seat, along with the design of it's legs, allows your right leg to move under the chair, eliminating hip issues.
The real game changer for me is the curved backrest. In most standard chairs the back support comes only when sitting too far back to be practical for playing classical guitar. Sitting without a back support not only causes tension in the lower back but as those back muscles fatigue the abdomen muscles begin to tighten in compensation. It’s remarkable how much more nimble and comfortable this chair makes practicing.
Like the Original Guitar Chair and the actual original chair built by Matt Crutcher in the 1970’s, this chair is foldable and will come in a few heights. But unlike those chairs this one will come with adjustable feet which enables the player to dial in the perfect height.
I’ve now used this chair for a number of long (3-4 hour) practice sessions and I find it not only comfortable throughout but I feel far less fatigue. For the first time in decades I seem to ‘pop’ right up out of my sitting position and have no residual back tightness or pain.
